The global market for security printing is set to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4.8% in 2017-22, accelerating from the 3.4% rate experienced in 2012-17. This will take the market value from $22.9 billion in 2012, to $34.3 billion in 2022, according to Smithers Pira data.
The Smithers market report, Global Security Printing to 2022, explores the shift both in end-user demands and commercial technology as segments respond to the challenges and opportunities of an increasingly interconnected world.
Smithers Head of Consultancy Americas, Duane Neidert, will discuss the report’s findings in his presentation “Bank Notes and Security Printing Trends: A Global Outlook” at the Anti-Counterfeit & Currency Conference on Nov. 7 in Las Vegas, Nevada, track one, 3:25 p.m.
Neidert will share an overview of the world and North American banknote and wider security printing market, focusing on key commercial drivers for banknote printing in 2018-2023, as well as disruptive technologies and the evolving public and private landscape.
Smithers Pira staff will also be available at booth 529 near the networking lounge to discuss this and other informative market reports for the sector.
Covering banknotes, payment cards, checks, personal ID, ticketing, brand protection, and stamps, the market is showing growth in brand protection and tax stamp segments, and the higher prices commanded for novel security features. Growth is reliant on rising population and greater financial inclusion in emerging markets, Smithers Pira finds.
In terms of market share, the largest in security printing is banknotes, which is responsible for more than a third of the total. The banknotes market will see 3.1% CAGR in the 2017-22 period, comparing favorably to the 1.9% growth seen in 2012-17.
Based on in-depth research, Smithers found Asia to be the largest regional market for security printing, with almost 50% of global revenues in 2018. Africa, North America, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, South and Central America have shares of roughly 10% each.
Smithers Pira report, Global Security Printing to 2022, offers detailed analysis of the growing and evolving security printing market.
